///The Generative Design Lab at TU Darmstadt’s ISM+D Welcomes Two New Colleagues

The Generative Design Lab at TU Darmstadt’s ISM+D welcomes two new colleagues, who will continue the promising research seen in their master’s theses:

Stefanie Appelgrün will work at the intersection of Additive Manufacturing and building physics to investigate the potential of acoustic metamaterials made from clay. Using AM and growth-based algorithms, her work demonstrates how earthen materials can be shaped computationally to replace synthetic insulation with sustainable, high-performance structures.

Simon M. Hausknecht will investigate the fields of computational design and additive manufacturing. His research focuses on using complex formwork for casting bespoke, functionalized geometries as well as programming the corresponding digital tools to facilitate its implementation.

We are looking forward to accompanying two talented young researchers on their way to a Ph.D.!
