Imagine a grid shell structure – all these free form geometries our computational tools allow us now to design – without a supporting steel structure!
First, the team of Eastman, Knippershelbig and Yachtglass built a vertical shell. Now ISMD / TU Darmstadt joined the group and is trying a horizontal shell with no support steel structure and connection elements laminated in the glass plates. First mockup built at Glasstec 2022, next to come as shared research project and for larger spans – looking forward to the result!
