/// ENERGY STORING BRICK

KEYWORDS: energy storage, thermal mass
The basis of this idea was the concept of storing thermal energy in façades or collecting the energy by means of the façade. The façade itself is developed out of lightweight materials with an integrated storage tank for water. This water tank can be filled after positioning the unit as a “façade brick”, so that the construction, in terms of building physics, then becomes a “heavy construction”. Solar energy is collected on the outside of the façade and stored in the water tank until it is needed to warm the interior space. Alternatively, the same system can be used for cooling.
