BAMP – house 1

///BAMP – house 1

The BAMP team is developing housing types out of paper in various construction systematics. The first solution is a paper tube skeleton structure: The cylindrical cardboard tube is the strongest element made from laminated paper that exists in the market at the moment. It performs impressively well both in tension and compression. For this reason, designers see it as a structural material, and therefore it has become the most popular paper material in the field of construction.

House 1 is a skeleton structure based on cardboard tubes and wooden connection elements. The effective use of the material is the primary focus, aiming to study and control the structural performance of this spatial structure.  The design of the connections introduces the idea of transforming a five directions steel knot to a wooden knot that can be integrated into such a building, aiming for one made out of paper.
