The glass industry is entering an exciting phase of transformation. Rapid technological advancements are unlocking entirely new possibilities for sustainable, high-performance, and highly customizable glass solutions. No longer just a passive material, glass has evolved into a true multi-talent – ranging from multifunctional façade systems to ultra-thin, scratch-resistant films for next-generation displays.
Despite this progress, significant untapped potential remains. This is where NextGlass comes in. The innovation network aims to redefine the glass industry by developing advanced processes and technologies that enable greater flexibility, improved sustainability, and enhanced functionality in the production, finishing, and testing of glass components.
Bringing together nine small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), two associated partners, and two institutes from the Technical University of Darmstadt, NextGlass represents a strong collaborative effort. Together, these partners are shaping a future-ready glass industry – one that not only meets today’s challenges but also sets new standards for innovation and performance.
