Facade Forward – the final piece in our façade engineering program will start soon !

Finally no 7 will start !

With the launch of the new MOOC Facade Forward within the OpenFace program , we take the next step in strengthening façade education and addressing a clear knowledge gap in the built environment. Façades are the most visible part of a building, yet their technical, environmental and economic impact is often underestimated. They shape indoor comfort, reduce operational energy demand, enhance longevity and ultimately define architectural identity.

Developed by experts from TU Delft, TU Darmstadt and Eurac Research, Facade Forward explores current innovations in façade design and technology. Participants learn to identify key drivers behind industry developments, evaluate emerging technologies using the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) framework and understand the phases of market acceptance. Special attention is given to sustainability, circularity and urban resilience, as well as the strategic differences between new-build façades and retrofit challenges.

The course is aimed at architects, engineers and building professionals who want a structured overview of contemporary façade trends and the tools to design resilient, future-proof envelope solutions. Facade Forward connects research, industry and education — and prepares the next generation of façade thinkers to move the discipline forward.
