Safe the date: the 17th edition of our bi-annual conference Future Envelope – yes, we’ve been doing this for 17 years! This time it is about nature inspired facades as in recent years, nature-inspired façades have gained significant momentum. Concepts such as regeneration, biophilia, biomimicry, and biodiversity increasingly influence material choices, design approaches, and fabrication methods. In light of today’s ecological and climate challenges, it is essential to critically assess these developments and reconsider the role of nature in contemporary building envelopes.
On 25 June 2026, the 17th Future Envelope Conference in Delft will focus on “Nature-Inspired Façades.” International experts from research, industry, and design will share insights into how façades can respond to natural systems, learn from biological models, withstand environmental forces, and contribute to a sustainable human–planet relationship. The event offers a valuable platform for interdisciplinary exchange and for advancing next-generation, nature-inspired façade strategies.
