Students Mimic the Facade Professors – A Lovely Compliment

Sometimes the best compliment as a teacher is when your students start to copy you. At TU Darmstadt, in the Civil Engineering course Facade Technology 1, two students — David Fluß
Tarek El-Rashidy – created a short film about their study trip to Antwerp. What makes it special: they decided to mimic us, the “facade professors” — Ulrich Knaack and Marcel Bilow — and our adventures in the very first MOOC Facade Engineering Complexity Made Simple, where we traveled the world in a camper van.

David and Tarek picked up on our way of combining education with entertainment — or as we like to call it, edutainment. Their video even includes a playful nod to Marcels famous yellow glasses as Dr. Bucky Lab!

We find this absolutely wonderful: it shows that our approach to teaching has become recognizable, inspiring, and worth repeating. When students start not only learning but also recreating and sharing the spirit of our courses with others, that is truly the best feedback we can imagine.

Enjoy their film — and thanks again to David and Tarek for this creative tribute! And if you don’t know what this is all about watch the trailer of the mooc or even enroll to our online course here on EdX
