Facade design and engineering – this is a rather new discipline in the design process of buildings. But as the costs of a facade are about 20-30 percent of the overall costs and the facades influence the energetic performance, it has become a central theme in the last decades! So the obvious happens: a growing industry for better performance, development of education to be able to engineer at high level – and research to develop better performing systems.
