HydroSKIN

///HydroSKIN

HydroSKIN is the “functional clothing” for our buildings! The lightweight façade elements made of textiles and membranes absorb rainwater. This not only relieves the burden on the urban sewage system to prevent flooding, but also turns rain into a usable resource to reduce drinking water and energy consumption inside a building. On hot days, water is released into the textile façade, for evaporative cooling the building and the urban environment – sustainably without air conditioning. Due to their low weight, HydroSKIN façade elements can be retrofitted to all new and existing buildings – and in as many different and customizable designs as our clothing: various colors, prints with texts and images – there are no limits to creativity.

The “HydroSKIN” façade technology is among the 20 finalists in the Federal Environment Agency’s national competition for climate adaptation (“Blauer Kompass”). Voting for the community prize is open until June 18 via the following link: Tatenbank | Umweltbundesamt
