The need for restoration in the field of heritage conservation is enormous. Many listed buildings and a large number of special structures (e.g. statues) need to be restored. Due to the time-consuming and cost-intensive craft restoration activities of these objects (measuring, planning, fabricating, assembling, etc.) and the shortage of craftsmen in Central Europe, this situation is becoming increasingly acute. The partners of the innovation network “DenkmalpflegeAM” are facing the challenge of solving this problem by digital tools like scanning and additive manufacturing for replacement parts.
